Today, in our 2nd physician profile, you'll meet iMedExchange advisor Dr. Geoff Ankeney.
Name: Geoff Ankeney, MD
Practice: Providence St. Peter Hospital
Location: Olympia, WA
Medical School: Medical School for International Health - Ben Gurion U/Columbia U, located in Beer Sheva, Israel and at Columbia in New York
Favorite 'off' call activities: Writing and surfing
Interesting fact: I recently submitted a medical case to the TLC network show Diagnosis X. My case was accepted and produced, and I participated in the television re-enactment that is currently airing.
If I wasn't a physician I'd be a: Writer, photographer, teacher, or pro-surfer
Mode of transportation to work: Skateboard
Favorite ice cream: Chocolate with chocolate chips and fresh raspberries from Cold Stone Creamery
Family: I have a wife, 3 daughters, and 1 son
Vices: Ice-cream, chocolate, and McDonalds...can you believe that? I'm supposed to be a family doctor!
Why I'm an iMedExchange Advisor: I believe that the field of medicine is being dominated and directed by non-doctors. They have no skills, but still have managed to obtain the keys to the profession, telling doctors what to do, when to do it, and how. iMedExchange is, I believe, one of the brightest hopes for turning this system around and returning ownership of the profession to doctors.
